TSD Awarded CWEA Sierra Section Collection System of the Year Medium Size Category for the Second Year in a Row in 2019.

TSD Wins Local Awards

The Truckee Sanitary District (TSD) was the recipient of two awards at the Sierra Section of the California Water Environment Association Installation Banquet in Reno on February 23, 2019. Jose Esparza received the Collection Person of the Year award and TSD was awarded Collection System of the Year. Esparza, a Collection Systems Worker, who has been with the District for just over a year was recognized for his hard work, attention to detail, and great attitude. The Collection System of the Year award went to TSD for the third straight year based largely on an excellent track record of no spills. Board Chair, Denny Anderson, praised District staff for their outstanding commitment to protecting the rivers, streams, and lakes of our community. The District will now compete against other agencies for the statewide award. In addition to the awards, District Lift Station Worker, Morgan Walters, was sworn in as President of the Sierra Section for 2019.

TSD Receives Four Awards

TSD received four awards at the Annual Installation and Awards Dinner for the Sierra Section of the California Water Environment Association held on February 11, 2017. Two of the awards were for individuals, including Mike White for Inspector of the Year, and Morgan Walters for Mechanical Technician of the Year. The District also received the Safety Award and Collection System of the Year Award. In addition to receiving an award, Morgan Walters also was sworn in as the incoming treasurer for the Sierra Section. The installation of new officers was presented by Garry Parker, President of the CWEA.

TSD Wins Two Local Awards

On November 25, 2015, the Truckee Sanitary District was notified that it had received two awards from the Sierra Section of the California Water Environment Association. The District was the recipient - for the second straight year - of the Collection System of the Year Award for medium sized agencies (250-500 miles of pipe). According to the local CWEA Board President, this award is given to the District with a track-record of superior employee training backed up with outstanding performance.

In addition to the Collection System of the Year Award, District employee, Ryan Clifton, received the 2014 Public Education Person of the Year Award. According to local CWEA Board President, "Clifton did an outstanding job helping plan, organize, and manage several successful regional safety training events. In addition, he has been instrumental in TSD's public outreach programs, including Earth Day, Truckee River Day, and Big Truck Day." TSD Board President, Nelson Van Gundy, expressed pride in the organization, "I am always proud of the job the District employees perform for the Truckee community and especially pleased to see their efforts recognized by their peers."
