About the Position

Brief Description of General Manager
Located just 15 minutes from beautiful Lake Tahoe, California, the Truckee Sanitary District (TSD) is an award winning wastewater collections-only public agency. TSD is seeking a highly qualified individual to join its management team in the position of General Manager. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Wastewater professional motivated to help strategically plan and lead the District’s functions and activities, provide policy guidance and program evaluation to the Board and management staff; ensures all regulator and contractual requirements are met; facilitates provision of services to the District residents and businesses; and fosters cooperative working relationships within the District, governmental and regulatory agencies. The incumbent will exemplify District Mission and Core Values.
JOB DESCRIPTION

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate will have knowledge of:
  • Administrative principles and practices,
         including goal setting, program
        development, implementation and
        evaluation, budget development,
        administration, and supervision of staff,
        either directly or through subordinate 
        levels of supervision.
  • Principles, practices, methods and
         technical requirements of wastewater
         collection systems and related facilities
         and appurtenances.
  • Functions, services and funding sources of
         a public agency.
  • Functions, authority, responsibilities, and 
         limitations of an elected District Board of 
         Directors.
  • Principles and practices of public agency 
         budget development and contract    
          administration.
  • Current social, political and economical
         trends affecting District government and 
         service provision.
  • Techniques for effectively representing the
          Disrict in contacts with governmental 
          agencies, community groups, and 
          various business, professional, regulatory
          and legislative organizations. 
  • DUTIES

    Qualifications

    Must have the following to qualify:
    1. Ability to use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgement within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines.
    2. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, finance, engineering or related field.
    3. Ten years of management experience in a municipal or other public agency setting.
    4. Master’s degree, Executive Leadership certification, and experience working with an elected Board of Directors is highly desirable.
    5. Must posses a valid driver's license in CA or NV.

    Negotiable starting at $220,000
